Lawyers and Technology – Use ‘IT’ or Lose It

March 2019ManagementGeneral

Abstract

Lawyers face many different challenges and a recent addition to this growing list is how best to respond to technology /digital changes, innovation and disruption. Given that the practice of law is steeped in tradition and accustomed to legal developments that are more ‘glacial’ in pace than responding in a timely manner to the ‘scorching’ pace of current technological innovation and disruption; lawyers must now learn how they can best adapt and evolve to remain relevant. This is not a choice that can be mulled over and considered with the luxury of time but requires a focused, deliberate and disciplined approach to unlearn the old ways and embrace the new changes, at an unprecedented pace hitherto not seen in the history of law practice.
