Duties of Directors in the Maritime/Offshore Verticals in an Age of Maritime Terrorism

We live in an age of maritime terrorism and the consequences are grave for the planet, people and profits. Given the aforementioned, the duties of directors of corporations ought to be dovetailed to meet the exigencies of the situational dictates, and the boards of Maritime Entities would have to be leaders of the future in every sense of the word. The Boards of the Future will have to negotiate not only the urgent, but also the emergent, in that, the Boards would have to develop the perspicacity to deftly govern emergent situations – that which will emerge, and for that to happen, the boards would have to develop the skills that would be apposite for facing the future with élan. There is just no other way. Period. The aforementioned would have to be read into each facet of the duties of directors as enunciated by the CA of 2006. This is the central idea of this Article.
