The IICJ third annual conference will gather together Senior In-House Counsel, Editorial Board Members, Authors and Subscribers to the International In-house Counsel Journal. Hosted at the Law Society in London delegates will be able to network with their peers and to formulate their own strategies to develop their in-house legal function.

 

Bringing together senior in-house counsel, this conference will provide you with an ideal opportunity to discover the strategies and solutions companies are adopting across the full range in-house counsel management issues.

 

With over 15 senior in-house counsel presenting or participating in panel sessions the IICJ Annual conference is a must attend event, providing delegates with a sound insight into how they manage their organisations legal function effectively.

 

Focusing on "hot” topics such as Security, Competition, Employment, Global Regulation, Managing the in-house counsel function, M&A, Consumer Rights, and Preparing a Witness this interactive day will enable delegates to learn the latest strategies being adopted in-house.

 

Here's a preview of what to expect:

 

Dr Karl Mackie CBE the Chief Executive at the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution in the UK will provide a brief overview of how in-house counsel can enhance their personal and organisationl impact in a conflict situation. Which is based on his experience as a mediator and leading an organisation which regularly works with in-house counsel to develop better conflict management or to resolve disputes. Martin Strnad the Head of Legal Global Corporate at Zurich Insurance will focus on the challenges of coordinating international internal legal support to a globally run business Unit.

 

Hanne Melin Policy Strategy Counsel at eBay will examine consumer rights and how they dovetail in the Internet of Things. Jo Anne Schwendinger the  Regional General Counsel APAC & Sub-Saharan Africa at  Deere & Company and Daniel Kim a  Senior Counsel at  GE Capital will participate in a mergers and acquisition discussion panel evaluating the merits of organic growth vs. growth through acquisition. During lunch Brian Littleton the Head of In-House Chadwick Nott will share his knowledge of the in-house counsel employment arena and examine what needs to be done when moving jobs.

 

After lunch Mark Solon will lead an interactive session enabling delegates to find out how to effectively prepare a witness. Alice Selby  the Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs at T-Mobile  intends to explore how in-house counsel deal with the regulatory function within a globally regulated business and examine the best course to follow to ensure that the whole organisation is compliant within each of the jurisdictions it is operating in. Anca Plovie  the Senior Legal Counsel at Alcatel-Lucent Bell  will provide an insight into the latest regulatory developments in privacy and Cyber Security and Cybersecurity-Related red flags in contracts The recent attitudes by the U.S. government against banks, enforcement actions, global applications of U.S. laws will be closely examined and described by Bruce Ortwine  the General Counsel, Americas of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank 

 

An interactive panel debate led by Dr. Armin Kammel the Legal & International Affairs counsel at Austrian Association of Investment Fund Management Companies  will summarise the day and provide opportunity to focus on current issues affecting in-house counsel.

 

The conference will then close followed by a cocktail reception providing an opportunity for informal networking.

With the exception of the conference sponsors all those attending will be in-house counsel, which means that discussion will centre around in-house legal matters.
